Trimming the tree

This is my tree in all its glory.  I use A LOT of ornaments in my tree.  As you can see there are white lights,  vintage gold glittery snowflakes, gold ribbon, gold star garland, peacocks, sparrows, a few assorted Eiffel towers, gold and glitter balls, vintage red stripe/glitter balls, stars, gold pine cones, and varying ornaments I have picked up along the way.  I carried the tree in, lit it, and decorated it all by myself!  Meanwhile, on the not so far away sofa, there was a 'sleepy' guy heckling and complaining about the Christmas music.  He was most excellent about eating all of the m&m's out of candy cane ornament I bought him from Target, and once all was said and done, he really loves the tree.  I catch him every once in a while staring at it and he has complimented my decorating several times.

Below are some of my favorite ornaments from Target.  Target really is my go to place for ornaments.  I usually buy a few of my favorite ornaments/decor items full price and then wait until the day after Christmas to get the rest.  The day after Christmas Target marks their holiday items down 50-75% which means major discounts.  I head in every year to stock up on sale items and put them away for the next year.  When I open my Christmas boxes the next December I get to see all of my new stuff and I have usually forgotten all about the items, so it feels like I have all these new little presents.

I picked these up to have on hand for gift wrapping.  I am going to add them to packages for that extra little pop.

I don't think this picture really does this ornament justice.  It is made with antique glitter and has a tiny little flag on top of the Eiffel Tower that says 'wish'.  I love this new little addition to my tree.

See my favorite little Eiffel Tower ornament in the upper right?  Love it!

We (I) made hot cocoa to drink while decorating the tree - I swear there is cocoa under that pile of marshmallows!  I 'accidentally' poured all of these in there.  Is there really such a thing as too many marshmallows anyways?!

Tim Tams - the best hot cocoa treat.

Here is a trick I learned from my Aussie friends.  You bite the ends off of the Tim Tam (WAIT!  Don't forget to eat one first)  Ok, start over...  You bite the end off of the 2nd Tim Tam, then dip one end into the hot chocolate, then suck on the other end like a straw.  The hot cocoa gets pulled up through the cookie and it is the ultimate in gooey goodness.  If you haven't ever tried this - RUN to the store and get some! Probably just pick up 2 packages.  You will be glad you did.
